Selangor Sultan: Do not politicise water issue

May 08, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has urged the state government not to politicise the water issue for the sake of residents and the development of the state, Bernama Online reported today.

The Sultan of Selangor said he hoped his comments would avert a possible water crisis that could jeopardise Selangor’s reputation as a developed state, prompting investors to relocate.

He was quoted by the news portal as saying, “Some people think that the water problem is trivial but I view it seriously… I don’t want the water issue to be politicised as the people need it and there are no other alternatives.”
